Located at the intersection of Soho, Little Italy, and Chinatown, this narrow triangular fragment of ground is everywhere and nowhere at the same time. A critical approach to its leftover condition reveals the site's formation by large-scale urban infrastructures including the widening of Lafayette Street for the construction of the subway and the cutting of Kenmare Street to accommodate traffic from the Williamsburg Bridge. The Garden Landscape incorporates a Grass Terrace, a wood-floored Orchard, and a Brick Hill with seating and water. The project establishes thresholds to this landscape in four directions which assert local occupation, establish block scale connections, mark the foundations of buildings that once occupied the site, provide a spacious veranda for Greenmarket stands and shoppers, and recognize the existing infrastructure beneath the site.
