FAIA, has ever designed in New York City, and according to the project's site developer, Sumaida + Khurana, the location and industrial character of the NoLIta neighborhood perfectly reflect Ando's architectural philosophy of using basic materials such as use of concrete and glass.

New York, NY HFZ Capital Group has closed on construction financing for The Eleventh, a new mixed-use development on the High Line located at 76 11th Ave. between 17th and 18th Sts. A U.K. financial institution has provided HFZ Capital with the construction financing for this distinctive development. HFZ principal and chief investment officer John Shannon directed the firm’s negotiations to secure this financing with the institution.

Pritzker-Prize winning Japanese Architect Tadao Ando’s first residential development in New York City and outside Asia, 152 Elizabeth Street, is approaching completion with the unveiling of its new two-bedroom, 2.5-bath model residence. Nestled in the heart of Nolita, the luxury building was developed by Sumaida + Khurana in partnership with Nahla Capital and was conceived to be an inner sanctuary in downtown Manhattan.

Michael Gabellini founded his eponymous practice in 1991. Kimberly Sheppard joined the studio in 1994 and became a partner in 1998 leading to the name change. Though they both earned bachelor of fine arts and bachelor of architecture degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design, they didn’t meet until later: when Sheppard moved back to New York after eight years of living and working in Milan with Laboratorio Associati.

A luxury boutique in a far-flung locale is usually where we encounter Interior Design Hall of Fame member Michael Gabellini. Jil Sander in Paris, Salvatore Ferragamo in Venice, Giorgio Armani in Rome, and 1436 in Beijing spring to mind. This time we’re on the Upper East Side, closer to home. . . at an actual home. And it’s every bit as grand as retail projects by Gabellini Sheppard Associates, the firm he operates with Kimberly Sheppard. In fact, early fashion interiors by Gabellini were partly what caught the eye of the house’s owners. “They reacted to the spaces that had once been part of historic homes,” he recalls, pointing out that Jil Sander was in an 19th-century building that later belonged to couturiere Madeleine Vionnet.
