Great Lakes Vision Plan

For four years, SOM has devoted tremendous resources to the development of the Great Lakes Vision plan, a comprehensive planning strategy for the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River watershed region. SOM engages scientists, statesmen, environmentalists, businesses, and public policy advocates in an ongoing initiative committed to scripting a sustainable vision for the region, which contains 84% of North America’s surface fresh water. By continually developing and utilizing spatial data technologies capable of revealing patterns and trends, SOM addresses the impact of sprawling development, run-off, power generation, and invasive species on the region.
