The Sandler Center houses the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, the Department of Neurology, and the Center for Integrative Neuroscience at UCSF. Bringing together these three departments, the building is designed to encourage collaboration among investigators working in clinical, translation and basic research focused on the development of treatments and cures for diseases of the nervous system. A striking five-story-tall atrium and adjoining multi-functional public areas of the facility create opportunities for collaborative interaction as well as thermal comfort, improved indoor air quality, and energy savings.
